What is a CILS B1 practice test?
A CILS B1 practice test is a focused opportunity to work on the language and task types used in preparation for B1 Cittadinanza. You can concentrate on one skill without completing an entire simulated examination.
ProntoEsame provides independent preparation activities, not official CILS papers. For current examination requirements, consult official CILS information and your examination centre.
Practice test vs mock exam
Practice: develop a specific skill
Choose a section and a clear revision goal. Spend time understanding errors and improving your approach before trying another activity.
Mock: bring the skills together
Complete the four skills in sequence in an exam-style simulation. Use the CILS B1 Mock Exam to practise pacing and review your performance across sections.
Choose what you want to practise
Not sure what each skill involves? Read the CILS B1 exam format guide before choosing your next practice activity.
Start with the skill that needs attention, then rotate through all four. These activities use the existing ProntoEsame practice tools.
Listening practice
Listen to everyday Italian and answer comprehension questions. Review your result, then focus on the details you missed.
Practise listeningReading practice
Work through a reading set and check your score. Find evidence in the passage rather than choosing an answer from a familiar word alone.
Practise readingWriting practice
Respond to a writing prompt and review feedback. Focus on covering the task, organising your ideas and checking your language.
Practise writingSpeaking practice
Practise a spoken response and review feedback. Build relevant answers with reasons and examples, not just memorised sentences.
Practise speakingHow to practise effectively
Set one concrete goal: identify time expressions in listening, justify reading answers, cover every writing prompt point or explain an opinion aloud. Attempt the task before checking help. Add timed practice once the task feels familiar.
Recommended practice cycle
- 01Practice
- 02Review
- 03Understand mistakes
- 04Target weaknesses
- 05Practise again
- 06Complete mock exam
After reviewing a mock, return to focused practice for any skill that still needs work.
How to review mistakes
- Compare your answer with the result or feedback available for the activity.
- Identify why it went wrong: missing vocabulary, a grammar pattern, misunderstood instructions or a rushed decision.
- Write an improved answer and explain the change in your own words.
- Revisit the same language in a different task to check that you understand it, rather than remember one answer.
Use a revision note to track repeated problems. Your Error Notebook can also help where mistakes have been recorded; an empty notebook does not mean there is nothing to revise.
AI-assisted writing and speaking feedback is a revision aid, not an official CILS assessment.
Common preparation mistakes
- Only practising your strongest skill. Give weaker areas regular attention while maintaining the others.
- Checking answers too early. Make a genuine attempt before looking at feedback.
- Repeating tasks without review. Understand the cause of a mistake before moving on.
- Memorising complete responses. Practise adapting your language to the actual prompt.
- Treating a practice score as a guarantee. Preparation results cannot promise an official pass.
When to move to a full mock exam
Try a full mock when you are familiar with each section and want to bring the skills together. You can also use an early mock to establish a starting point, then return to targeted practice. Look for more consistent performance across different tasks, not just one high score.

Frequently asked questions
Can I practise just one skill?
Yes. Choose listening, reading, writing or speaking to open that existing practice tool without completing a full mock exam.
Is a practice test the same as a mock exam?
No. Targeted practice develops an individual skill. A full mock brings the four sections together in an exam-style sequence.
Do I need an account to practise?
Yes. Sign in to use the practice tools. Available activities and attempts depend on your plan or active school licence.
How should I use feedback?
Identify the reason for an error, produce an improved answer and try the same language in another task. Do not just memorise the correction.
Are these official CILS tests?
No. ProntoEsame is an independent preparation platform with no official CILS affiliation or endorsement. Practice results and AI-assisted assessments are unofficial and cannot guarantee a pass.
